C M Nafi / A few things that connect

Attention is finite.
Curiosity is a choice.

From leaving home at twelve to working with investment teams, I learned to ask better questions. Follow that story, then try the research tools, cricket planners, and reading guides it connects to.

Four chapters, connected by a habit of curiosity.

Wheel, touch, or a navigation key pauses the tour.

Act I / Finite weeks & the tail end

Four thousand weeks.
Choose a few well.

In 2018 I wrote about Man’s Search for Meaning, The Last Lecture, and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Different books, circling the same question: what deserves the attention we have?

I grew up reading in Dinajpur, left home at twelve for Rangpur Cadet College, and moved to UWC Changshu on a full scholarship at sixteen. College and work took me to the United States. The settings changed. Reading and cricket stayed.

Act II / Small experiments

A choice can be a test.
It needn’t be a verdict.

My note on Designing Your Life keeps coming back to permission to experiment. A plan can be a hypothesis. A conversation, a class, or a small tool can tell you more than another month of trying to think your way to certainty.

That habit connects my reading notes to The Open Syllabus: 55 channels, eight learning tracks, five hours a week. Worldview takes the same curiosity into everyday choices, evidence, and reflection.

Ask a question. Try something small. Notice what changes.

Act III / What work taught me

What each job
taught me to ask.

Clinical data pipelines at Mayo Clinic taught me reliability. Screening more than 200 hedge fund profiles at SkyBridge taught me to combine numbers with judgment. At BlackRock, risk reporting and capital-flow dashboards made the story behind a number matter just as much as the calculation.

A recommendation to read Good to Great stayed with me. Today I’m a solutions engineer at Dasseti, translating between investors and due-diligence software. Independently, I use AI coding tools to turn clearly described research questions into Garage tools.

Select a capability to see the work or concept it represents.

Act IV / Ideas into tools

Every answer leaves
another question.

Sports ownership, Uber’s financing, Canva and Figma, or seven runs to defend in the final over: I keep returning to how decisions change a system, and what the numbers leave out.

The adviser research connects to Regulatory Lens. The match reports connect to fielding planners. The book notes connect to Worldview’s everyday questions. Browse 64 published notes and 7 related tools, connected by six reading tracks.

Solutions engineer · Numbers, tools, and matches

Building the tools I wish existed.
Writing down what I learn along the way.

I’m Nafi, a solutions engineer at Dasseti in institutional fintech. Before this, I worked at BlackRock in asset management, SkyBridge Associates in alternative investments, and Mayo Clinic in healthcare and research. Different rooms, the same habit: understand the question before trying to answer it.

I left home at twelve for Rangpur Cadet College, moved to UWC Changshu on a full scholarship at sixteen, and studied data science at Luther College. These days I translate between investment teams and software, write about capital, and turn up for weekend cricket.

Learn the room. Then translate.

The retail software stack.

Who runs the till, the pumps, and the back office, and where the workflow breaks. A full report across six retail verticals, with searchable pricing tables and an analysis of the manual steps AI could help with.

Your choice stays on this device. It is not a public vote tally.

Try the question for yourself.

At SkyBridge, I learned to look beyond a manager’s headline numbers. In cricket, I learned how one field change can matter. Try both ideas below: compare adviser snapshots, then move fielders and check the rules.

Read the entity, then the numbers.

Start with BlackRock or Blackstone, then compare assets and clients for the exact registered advisers. The same question behind my Form ADV essay: what sits beneath a familiar firm name?

Official Form ADV snapshots, checked October 14, 2026. Figures cover each named legal adviser and its filing perimeter, not the parent group's assets. Item 5.F reports regulatory AUM; Item 5.D reports client types. Fee schedules require separate Part 2 review and remain unverified. No 13F holdings are loaded.

Where would you put the field?

BowlerKeeperRight-handed batter, facing down the pitch

Drag the numbered dots, focus one and use arrow keys, or use the movement buttons. Suggested formations are tactical examples: the match reports do not document actual fielder coordinates. Assumed limited-overs rules: maximum five outside the circle at the death, two during powerplay. Check your league regulations. Coverage indices measure geometric coverage, not save probabilities.

Say hello.

Happy to talk about allocator workflows, a good book, a close finish in cricket, or which beta build you liked best.
